Abstract
The paper deals with utilization of modern information and communication technologies in mathematics teaching at the Faculty of Education, Trnava University. In the first part the authors characterise two e-learning courses that they used in teaching of the subject Discrete Mathematics. In the second part of the paper the authors characterise an experiment with utilization of the courses in teaching process and analyse the results of the experiment.
Abstract
The paper contains a global characteristic of inversion in n-dimensional Euclidean space and its special cases such a sphere and a circle inversion. Using dynamic geometric software GeoGebra, there are investigated properties of the circle inversion and solved problems leading to illustration of Steiner´s porism.
Abstract
Key point while introducing computers to the process of education is to identify the appropriate topics to do this. This and also the way of specific usage of computers, is primary the teachers responsibility. This article presents one way, how to motivate the students by showing them the symbiosis between mathematics and computer science in the process of solving the recurrent mathematical problems.
Abstract
Nowadays many foreign and Slovak publications are interested in the matter of using digital technologies in teaching and they are increasingly becoming the subject for various projects, pilotings and serious researches. According to the current experiences of using didactic software and graphic calculators in different topics of high-school mathematics, we have implemented a wider nature research on the sample of four classes at one particular school (with ICT equipment above standard) in the course of one school year. In the paper we provide goals, hypothesis, demonstrational materials in digital form as well as some of the research results.
Abstract
The paper deals with several types of constructions of geometric objects with standard, virtual, and nontraditional tools. The didactical aim of investigation of activities in different environments is to find mathematical competences that are increased or lost in that environment. Special attention is given to the using of ICT and an interactive whiteboard.
Abstract
Students of teaching very often ask one particular question: „How to teach the pupils to think?” Asking that question, statement of particular problems, holding a discussion with pupils becomes a great problem. Students - future teachers have to learn how to work with pupils in problem solving and to develop their skills by using different solving strategies. The teachers motivate their pupils mainly by their own enthusiasm, for instance, by creating suitable tutorial materials which can be completed based on pupil’s remarks and observations from the lessons. In the report, some examples of problems in interactive environment with the use of the interactive SMART Board are discussed. Some methodical notifications are prepared for the use of prepared material for a teacher.
Abstract
The paper discusses a 3D modelling software and points to its utilization in teaching practise, especially for school mathematical lessons as one of the alternative method of teaching solid geometry through ICT. The second part of the paper is engaged in research into the development of spatial abilities. Furthermore some models produced in the environment of SketchUp are added. The aim was to show how SketchUp as one of the DGS can be used for the didactical purpose.
Abstract
In this paper, we focus on simple application examples. We choose examples, where the synthesis of knowledge of geometry and mathematical analysis is evident. It is clear that the examples are of motivating nature and they are offered as an inspirational source.
Abstract
In our paper we deal with the cube and its appearance in the mathematics curriculum for the 2nd grade of elementary school. We describe the using of ICT in teaching of these following thematic units: the blocks of cubes, the free parallel projection; the cube network, the volume of a cube and the surface of a cube. We present some software, figures in Cabri geometry II Plus and videos.
Abstract
We present, at first, some fundamental properties and theorems on convex polyhedra and their nets. The main goal is presenting some ideas how to solve non-standard tasks on nets of convex polyhedra by implementation of the ICT using dynamic geometric program Cabri 3D. Two tasks are solved using Cabri 3D and they are complemented with two tasks for homework.
Abstract
The teaching of knowledge about solid geometry is considered as a difficult topic of school geometry. This is due to several factors. The didactical approach of the teacher, that provides the subject matter to the students, can be considered as one of the significant factors. The presented didactical elaboration of the subject matter about prisms and antiprisms is using the educational software Poly.
Abstract
The paper describes the difficulties in developing didactical materials centred on the teaching mathematics in an ICT environment. A part of the paper is a didactic elaboration proposal of the selected topic of school mathematics (translation in the plane) through ICT. The activities, tasks, assignments and methodological notes are described in detail and there are also some links to the Internet resources with educational math content, as well as materials in form of electronic tasks, animations and geometric tasks. The aim was to highlight the great variability, a broad spectrum of sources and different approaches of mathematical education in the ICT environment.
